The ground was tinted with a glistening white,
When we walked side by side,
Through these familiar streets.
Trying to hide my despair,
I smiled at you and laughed,
Enduring the snide remarks which you sent my way.
Loathing myself has resulted,
In these situations,
Where I must hide the pain of not being loved back.
I can only ever love those,
Who do not care for the real me,
As they mirror my own emotions.
Never being able to get you out of my mind,
When you are not around,
While you don’t give a damn.
